Scope

IEEE Std 802.3, which addresses the CSMA/CD access method and physical layer specifications will be enhanced through necessary amendments and corrigenda.

Purpose

IEEE Std 802.3 will be kept current and reflective of current implementation and application requirements, in accordance with the IEEE 802.3 Working Group maintenance process, defined at http://ieee802.org/3/.
