Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to define an application programming interface (API) to directory services, including, but not limited to, the services described in ISO/IEC 9594: 1990 and the CCITT X.500 Series recommendations (References {5A?11}) in terms that are independent of any particular programming language.
Abstract
New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Withdrawn.Withdrawn Standard. A application program interface (API) to OSI directory services is defined in terms that are independent of any particular programming language. The interface, which supports applications portability at the source-code level, is intended to be used by both applications developers and directory service implementors.
