Assessing Fracture Toughness And Cracking Susceptibility Of Steel Weldments - A Review
Bulletin / Circular by Welding Research Council, Inc., 1989
J. A. Davidson, P. J. Konkol, J. F. Sovak
Full Description
A literature search was performed to determine, document and evaluate tests for assessing the susceptibility of structural steel to cracking during welding and for measuring the toughness of the weld metal and heat-affected zone. Welding parameters that affect both cracking susceptibility and heat-affected-zone toughness, as well as test methods for determining each of these are reviewed and discussed. Finally, the applicability and appropriateness of applied fracture mechanics and the metallurgical factors that influence toughness are discussed.
